If you want to shape the world to your liking, you have to look ahead, into the future. Change and innovation are initiated by those who believe that the world can be better or different. It's the artists, designers, scientists, and great thinkers who make tangible what others do not yet see.
RetroFuture is the world's first major exhibition on the future of the past. What was strange, unfamiliar, and artificial yesterday is now familiar or even natural.

About the future of yesterday
In ten tunnels filled with fiction and facts, the visions of yesterday's futurists are on display, experienced and felt. The idealists and the doomsayers, the scientists and the dreamers. What did they imagine the world of today would look like? Were they right?

In a carnival-like setting, artists and designers offer a glimpse into a possible future. Perhaps we'll be snacking on algae treats from a vending machine. Or paying with eco-coins. Are you up for a game of shooting organs in the shooting gallery? What fearful prospects will you encounter in the haunted house of the future?
THE FUTURE REPEATS ITSELF
The future repeats itself and evolution keeps moving forward.
What seemed quite strange not too long ago is now familiar (think of video calling). What was once unimaginable is now normal (think of flying). Many future visions remained science fiction (like time travel). What does this mean for how we look at the future today? What can we learn from yesterday's futurists?

Step into the world of yesterday's future visions.
Which dreams have come true and which fantastic ideas remained a fantasy? RetroFuture starts with classic dreams and challenges. From Da Vinci's wish to fly to a jetpack from the Space Age. From Nostradamus predicting the end of the world to the Egyptians believing in eternal life. Future visions from the past are an inspiration for contemporary artists who shed a new light on the future with a surprising mix of objects, film and design.
RetroFuture showcases works from Studio Drift, Maison de Faux & Esmay Wagemans, Audrey Large, Driessens & Verstappen, Tabita Rezaire, Floris Kaay, Michael Mandiberg and Smack.
RetroFuture is made possible with the support of Fonds 21, Mondriaanfonds, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds and BPD Cultuurfonds. A flight to the future
Pay attention! We have limited places for time travel on a daily basis, to ensure that you can actually travel into the distant future during your visit, we recommend that you book a VR Time Machine ticket in advance.
The VR Time Machine is not suited for children under the age of 12, visitors with photosensitive epilepsy and elderly.
Taste the future
You can visit Brasserie Next without an entrance ticket. So claim your workspot with a cup of coffee or book a delicious lunch with the best view on the UFO!
Guided tour
TRAVEL WITH A TOUR GUIDE THROUGH RETROFUTURE
Accompanied by one of our tour guides, travel across the four rings of the Evoluon to the future of the past. They will take you into the story of future thinkers and dreamers. The tours are suitable for both young and old and depart at fixed times from the central hall.

A ticket for the tour is only valid in combination with a Evoluon ticket. These tickets can be purchased separately.
